Considerable effort has been put into the CBR range of machines. Specific profiles, motors, linear guides and electronics have been especially designed for these machines. The outcome has been the introduction of a highly versatile table at a highly competitive price in the market.

Because of their size (300/400 mm; 400/600 mm and 600/800 mm), these machines can be used for a wide range of different applications. They can, in fact, be used by almost anybody. One thing is for sure: the price is not an obstacle.
The application
The CBR milling machines are built for the lighter jobs. They are not suitable for machining heavy materials. Because of their relatively large work surface and low purchase price, they are often used to take over the lighter tasks of their heavier counterparts. The machines are ideal for electronics labs, model makers, engraving firms and educational institutions. However, they are also used in professional workshops for 3D scanning, as laser or instrument tables or simply for applying glue or compounds. For example, aluminium front plates can be milled without any difficulty.

Because of the ample availability of accessories, these machines can be used in almost any sector. For a small investment, you can acquire a tool that could not only save a great deal of money but also greatly increase the flexibility (time to market) of your business.
Colinbus MultiStab system
The unique MultiStab profile ensures that the Colinbus CBR milling machines are extremely stable. Colinbus has developed a guiding that combines two technologies. A massive external guiding and a lighter internal guiding are brought together as a single entity. This made it possible to construct a smaller machine capable of moving quickly and accurately.
Built-in Control System
Machines on offer in the price range of the CBR series are not usually equipped with their own processor board (see image on top left). This means that all calculations are done by your computer and all necessary signals are (usually) sent through the parallel port to the motor drivers. The biggest disadvantage of this mode of operation is that the PC's operating system was not really designed for this job and will usually try to avoid these activities. The user frequently has to experiment quite a lot before everything works properly. Install a Windows update or change your computer and all the trouble starts again. Installing other software that use the same ports also presents quite some problems. Most machines are therefore provided with a User Interface (the software controlling the machine) operating in DOS. A heavier load is placed on the PC and most of the time it cannot be used for anything other than controlling the machine.
Processorboard
The CBR milling machines, just like CNC devices, are controlled by a built-in processor board. A powerful Hitachi processor deals with all the tasks. Thanks to the large internal memory, a complete file can be sent to the machine if necessary, enabling the machine to finish the entire job on its own. The machine and the PC are connected by a serial connection and the user does not have to change any settings.
Steel and aluminium
A CNC machine, however small, must have adequate weight. The construction has to be rigid and it has to be able to absorb the generated inertia. The CBR machines are made of a combination of steel and aluminium. The unique guidings, which also serve as connection profiles, are supported by a load-bearing steel structure. This combination has made it possible to build a modular yet very stable machine.
Powerful and Accurate Hybrid Motors.
There is no space for large motors in small devices. For that reason high-quality hybrid motors are used in CBR machines. They are small, powerful and accurate. The combination of hybrid motors, unique guidings and stable construction ensures that jobs can be done very precise at relatively high speed.
Free software!
The CBR milling machines are not only provided with a user-friendly User Interface (the software that controls the machine), but also with professional CAM software. These packages are supplied with the machine free of charge. No need to search for the right software – just get straight to work!
